Mother and Daughter Worry About the Hamster in the Oven?
There are two new articles on the main DCX page!
Before my time ran out, I had the chance to interview three women who have had a profound impact on the Dixie Chicks, and especially, Natalie Maines.
The first article is an interview with Natalie's charming mother, Tina Maines, and her lovely sister, Kim Maguire. Tina and Kim, who are both excellent photographers, proved to be very difficult to photograph, as the above picture indicates. Whenever they saw my camera pointed at them, they'd quickly look away. (I had a better chance of capturing Bigfoot!) Thankfully, they were willing to talk. Even better, they let loose some hilarious trivia about Natalie.
The second article is the result of an interview with Andrea, the woman discussed in "Not Ready To Make Nice." Andrea once attended an anti-Dixie Chicks protest; the footage of her was subsequently broadcast across the country and ended up in Shut Up and Sing. She was the one who told her young child to say "Screw the Dixie Chicks!" You'll be amazed to read what she has to say today.
With these two articles published, there remains only one.

The next day the cheap wow gold cheapest wow gold little pig invited his mother over . She said "You see it is just as I told you. The way to gdpchinaget along in the world is to do world of warcraft gold things as well as you can." Fortunately for that little pig, he meinwowgold learned that lesson. And he just lived happily ever after!
Junichi, I've got a question before you don't update anymore; In Shut Up & Sing, when Martie is talking about how Emily decided to play banjo instead of fiddle, what song is being recorded? Emily is playing the banjo and you can faintly hear some lyrics in the background...any idea? It's driving me crazy!
Junichi, I will be so sad to see your blogging stop. I am a huge fan of the chicks and love reading your articles on them. They always bring a smile to my face. Today for example, I'm in San Antonio visiting my family for Christmas. It has been a dificult holiday, as my mother passed away unexpectedly on 11-24 and this was our first holiday without her. As I have on occassions when I feel down, I surf over to this site and I feel better. Tonight after reading the new articles posted about Natalies family I was able to easily smile and escape for a moment. Thank you. Tomorrow, we will drive to the small town of Pearsall where my family plots are and say Merry Christmas to my mom in her final resting place. I suspect I will be back to peruse the site again tomorrow to again escape for a moment in your clever words and enjoy this site. Thank you and thank the Chicks for me for the amazing memories last year when Greg and I were able to meet the Chicks in London. My mother loved the photo you took of us with the Chicks and it was one of the last things she saw as she passed on, as it was on her bedside table. Thank you again, Gene
If people spent as much time doing positive things in this world as they do trashing people and being negative, the world would be a completely different place. Making changes involves being a positive and active participant in what you believe in. It does not involve dragging others down and making them feel less than human because they don't agree with your point of view.
Those who bring such negativity into the world are only showing how insecure and sad they are deep down inside. I'm sorry for those of you who are so miserable that you want everyone else to feel like you do. If you really believed in yourself and what you have to say, you wouldn't be spewing such crap from your mouth. You would be out there in the real world, fighting for your cause and trying to educate others on your point of view. Being an a**hole on a computer takes no real effort. Get off your lazy ass and do something positive for what you believe in instead of typing a bunch of negative and hateful words on a computer screen.
Natalie is not defending Child murderers, those three men where wrongly convicted of murder without a single shred of evidence linking them to the crime scene. so before you start judging Natalie on trying to help these three men you should get your facts straight.

More like fighting for the truth. In the end it is the truth that will prevail (one would hope)...but everyone deserves a fighting chance and these teenagers didn't get one. Zero DNA evidence linking them to the crime. Not liking the music someone listens to or their personality isn't sufficient for an arrest, much less a spot on death row.

You need to pick your battles a little more carefully Natalie. Defending child murderers is low even for you.
1. To Rockie in Texas "Respect is earned, not given" and our President has in no way earned respect of any kind. Maybe if he respected what the country wanted and addressed us in some way then I would think of giving him some respect.
2. To the person who called the dixie chicks "no talent sluts" if they are so untalented then how come they won every grammy they were nominated for? hmmm since you think they are untalented then maybe you can point to me what is talent...because i may be going out on a limb but im pretty sure the chicks have more talent in their pinkies than you do in your whole body. i doubt you can play the banjo, violin, guitar, piano, and sing like the 3 of these women. im sure you have been brainwashed to think that women should remain "barefoot and pregnant", but guess what its 2007 not 1957 and that isnt how us ladies roll today...as for calling them sluts i have to say that obviously you aren't aware of what that word means because by definition a "slut" is a person who is deemed sexually promiscuous and all 3 of the chicks are married with children and have never once been shown dressing inappropriately...so your whole little remark has just been torn apart. btw calling them "no talent sluts" is sooooo 2003...so please move on.
Andrea, what you have gone thru makes me want to be a bettter person..now I know that didn't make a lot of sense but you and your son should be very proud of you! You rock!
Well said Andrea! I loved the article about you, and the fact that you wanted and got to make amends. That is brave! Visit my blog and read about a similar, but in no way as grand, situation. http://anniskaffe.blogspot.com/
People can disagree, but one should do so by not doing the whole name - calling thing. All the haters that come to this site to spread their venom should take it somewhere else. It doesn’t take a genius to understand why there’s war and ugliness in this world. If we want to make this world a better place we should start whit ourselves.
I stopped by to read some comments about the article that Junichi was so kind to post about my son Connor and I. I thank those of you who have been inspired by our story. I always knew my actions on that day would come back to haunt me because they were so out-of-character, even for a big mouth like myself ;) Although it was one of the most embarrassing and painful experiences of my life, it has taught me so much and I am thankful for that.
On another note, it really saddens me to see that the comments have become so negative. One thing I have learned. Just because you believe something, does not make you right. We are all entitled to our own opinions and free speech (at least for now) but when we resort to name calling and bashing each other, that is just not right. We are human beings for goodness sake and look at how we treat each other!! Is it really ok to call someone "stupid" or a "pig" or whatever negative name you deem appropriate for the circumstance because a person disagrees with you? Exactly what is it that makes YOU right and everyone else wrong? PLEASE!! Gimme a freaking break. Get over yourself and STFU if you aren't going to have something positive to say.
Everyone wants to talk this BS about how enlightened they are or that they are non-judgmental and etc..etc.. and they are full of crap. I know I was. I probably still am, but I can admit that now. It's sad that because you are sitting behind a computer screen and no one knows who you are, you turn into name-calling, know-it-all, jerk. If you are going to "talk the talk", "walk the walk" too.
I pray that no one has to go through the embarrassment of a situation like I have been through in the past year. It's humiliating when people who know me say, "WTF was with you in that Dixie Chicks movie?" I had to learn the hard way. Maybe some of you do too. Maybe it will take a truly tragic event in your life to humble you. I'm sorry that you can't realize that what makes this world such a beautiful place is the fact that we are all individuals, who think different from one another and that it is something we should embrace. I wish peace and love to all of you, even those of you who disagree with me. Who am I to say what is right? And who are you to say it either?
