WOW ! They give computers to anyone these days.  Even if you CAN'T spell or use correct grammar.  Please take your banter of nonsense about the DCX elsewhere.  Oh...and In case you got confused as to what site you were on.....this is a Dixie Chicks Fan Site....NOT a Chicks bashing site.  Please make better use of your time learning some grammar and spelling skills, rather than passing judgement and showing your ignorance.

***I posted this review in a few places, so all could see...as I promised to give my opinion once I returned home from Los Angeles***Ok all....As promised...Here is my review of the Final Chicks Show on Sat. Oct. 27, 2007 in Los Angeles.  I just got back to Ohio from L.A. a few hours ago and now have full computer access.  So Here goes : First and foremost, the Chicks of course did not disappoint.  Their performance was phenomenal !  I want to also say Mary I am sorry that I did not see your comment until it was too late about meeting up.  The complimentary computer at the hotel wouldn't download the flash plugin on the site, so I couldn't get into the blogger except for once, when I stopped on at a Fedex / Kinkos.  A HUGE Thank you to Pam in NC for the camera tips.  I used the "feminine products" idea and got my camera past security.  I was able to get 2 photos and 3 small video clips during the show.  :o)  I got caught once, but they were nice about it.

The Eagles crowd was a Geriatric Convention.  The Eagles Fans...were quite rude and seemed very pompass and pretentious.  They made the experience, somewhat uncomfortable.  It was as if they thought the just ruled because they had Tickets to see the Eagles...and many were making comments, cracking on the Dixie Chicks before they even started.  One Guy across the Aisle from me slept the entire time during the Chicks Show.  Others around me who were making fun of myself and Sara for Cheering on the Chicks...found themselves 2 songs later, saying..."Wow..these Girls are Good".   The Dixie Chicks are good...anytime anywhere...whether it be on CD, DVD...Live etc.  They can play anything...anywhere....and it shows.  They have such ecclectic talent, and they are all three so beautiful as well.  They looked and sounded incredible. I enjoyed their rendition of "Mary" and I hope that they record it.  I know someone mentioned earlier...and I agree, that it seemed as though because of the Eagles, The DCX were rushed.  They played for about an hour.   The did end up doing "Sin Wagon" which was a nice surprise..as I don't think it was on the set list of their eralier shows. The crowd...as others mentioned...was small at first...and just a few of us giving the Chicks Love.  By Shut up and sing...everyone was on their feet, and some were even bowing down to the DCX as if to say "We're not worthy". :o)

Many of the Eagles Fans made me nervous...once again uncomfortable...complaining about us standing when we did...and sceaming applause for the Chicks. Needless to say..we stuck around just to hear how the Eagles sounded (which was quite good..better than I expected) and we bolted a few songs later. I did not like how ..as others mentioned also...that it was apparent the Chicks were being treated as an Opening Act, and not as if the concert was a shared Bill as I had thought.  **Now, For the Final thing that did me in...and had me so through with the Eagles Fans...was during the Chicks Final Song...These Fans come sauntering in...as if no one is even performing...and they had the same seats as someone else in our row.  We got jacked out of our seats and were standing in the Aisle, while they fought with other Fans over their seats.  I tried not to let it ruin the Finale of DCX and Sara and I just danced and cheered in the Aisle, but it was still yet another rude distraction, that could have waited 3 mins until the Chicks were done...and the Fans could have come in between sets.

All in all...Natalie, Martie, and Emily, were just plain incredible.  I enjoyed every minute of their performance, and the Trip to L.A. with both Sara and I having bad colds, and also all the Wildfires out in So Cal...and all We went through to get there...all the way from our "lovely" state (Ohio) ....(being sarcastic). I guess you could almost literally say...We'd come through "Fire and Ice" and do really just about anything to See the Chicks. :o)

P.S.  Many comments were made to the two of us while we were in L.A. about...Oh...You're from Ohio...and you actually like the DCX ?  I thought Ohio was such a conservative state....blah blah ?  The answer to that question, is yes Ohio may be one of those conservative/swing states, but NOT Sara and Me. We go against the grain.  We love the Chicks for everything they are...musically...personalities, and yes we agree with them politically as well.

Thank you DCX for making our trip worth it ! I can hardly wait though for a SOLO TOUR minus The Eagles Fans though.

Mary, I am really sorry to hearabout no signs too big...security being the way they were and especially you being told that you need not be standing or sheering too loudly.  Clearly, you were showing your appreication to the Chicks.  This was exactly what I planned to do.  Make no mistale about it...if I get told to sit or not applaud these wonderful Ladies too loudly to show my Love and Appreciation for them...I will be on the phone with corporate the next day going through all the proper channels af any and every Supervisor of L.A. Nokia live to express my discontent until I feel I've been properly heard and acknowledged.  Please..anyone who can ..buy up extra tickets who are Chisks Fans.  We'll be there the Final night of the performance, so maybe We'll see something extra special, but make no mistake about it...I didn't pay near $300 a ticket...and fly all the way from Ohio...to not praise and cheer on my Girls showing them my appreciation for everything they are and everything they do...their incredible music....what they stand for and their impeccable talent...and I've been a Fan for so long..the list could go on and on.

So, Anything besides T-Shirts to choose from for Souvenirs ?  No Programs...The necklace they show in the DCX online shop ?

Hell, I've been an Eagles fan since the first time I heard Take it Easy, and that's when it was a hit, so I go way back with them. I've seen Don Henley solo in '91 but never the Eagles, and the reason I'm going is to see the Dixie Chicks. The Eagles were just gravy. I'd go if it was the ladies and no one else playing. In fact, that might be better.

I'm going Wednesday. I know they released a lot of tickets after the initial sell, so I am hoping and praying that all the Eagles fans got their tickets to the other shows and that there will be an abundance of DC fans.

I mean, the Eagles are a fine old band with a new record, but the band that has the most compelling story of this decade, the Grammys, and the musical chops are the Chicks.
I've seen the videos of the live performances, and I recognize people being moved on a gut level when I see it. That's what I want to experience.

Ticketmaster still has orchestra level seats for Wednesday, so it there's any DC fans out there that haven't bought tickets, help fill the place with support. Please.

The final encore was take it easy and desparado. That would be the time I could see a duet between bands. we know Natalie sang Desparado at the Henley tribute, and one of the myspace fan sights has a recording the the Chicks singing Take it Easy. I'll be so jealous! Heck i'll be jealous of any of you who get even 1 more song from the Chicks then I did.

To those attending the show on the last Night: I had read they were going to both play 2 full sets. We thought because it was Opening night we would see SOMETHING special: Didn't happen. I would guess, there was no encore, because the crowd didnt keep clapping when they left the stage. The 50 of us among 7000, wasn't enough I guess. This show sold out almost as quick as they went for sale-sold to,primarily, Eagles fans.

Regarding cameras: be careful, they will throw you out,not just delete pictures.

    My opening night experience:
The always talented Dixie Chicks performance was excellent as always.

Nokia Theater was nice. The only celeb. I saw was James Woods on the way out. I saw Junichi NO WHERE. They took my signs at the door. I was told they were to large, so be sure to check the venue's web sight for max. sign measurements. They did not take the disposible cameras in the bottom of my purse, though the security was super ON IT if they saw you using cameras during the show. I had no problems. The crowd, sadly was not there to see the chicks. My area thought I was a nut. I could barely stay in my seat, and was told by security to sit down during Goodbye Earl.
Starting with WOS was smart, reminded THEM of the Chicks everyone loves. Natalie seemed annoyed, I guess I don't blame her, but I must say, we didnt think THEY would really be out right at 8! All of their hair looked super, my compliments to the hairdresser. It may have been big, but it looked great from row QQ.

The playlist stuck mostly to the newer albums. Thank you ladies so much for including Goodbye Earl,it got the ladies around me commmenting and moving a bit. It's really my FAV and the song that hooked me as a fan. Either you get it or you don't. Marty, your Cowboy take me away solo was perfect, I'll aways remember Storytellers when I hear it. The new song: I want to hear it again, when/where can I get it?
I was so sad my beloved Dixie Chicks were but an opening act for the Eagles. An hour wasn't nearly enough of them. And by the time the Eagles started at 10, this Mom had been up since 5:30am, and was ready for bed.
They Eagles were fine, but played to much Solo hits with eagles back up, and not enough EAGLES. The horn section was fabulous, I really enjoyed the Trumpet solo at the start of Hotel California. Show closed with Don Henley in the dark, singing Desparado. That was surreal.

Best Ladies Room ever! Full bar selection. No key chains or magnets for sale. No shirts with both bands on them. No special opening night souvenier.
On the way to the car, we got an AD for a new musical called Atlanta, co- written and directed by Adrian Pasdar.
Emily, Marty, and Natalie: Over all, I'd love to see you at a venue like Storytellers. Small, intimate, filled with people who love your music, and admire you as people. That would be worth $300 and we'ld all be EARLY!

Forget the anti chick critics. This is an L.A. show and most people attending this other then Chicks fans are probably only familiar with the Taking The Long Way Album and Not Ready To Make Nice which is what brought them to their feet and got them cheering.

A majority of critics these days are people who couldn't make it in any other business or line of work.

    Have fun enjoy the music.

Seriously...couldn't have said it better. I can just picture in my mind how the dialogue amongst the Cicks and between them an Simon went after the show. I was also wondering by the way...if anyonw who was there, knows if they were able to get a camera inside ?  I know it says no cameras...but then I read something else about due to special effects...no cameras were allowed.  I don't think the Chicks would mind, if I took a few snapshots of them from my nice and up close seats. :o)

This is what I think, but it is only speculation, based upon some articles I read today, a TV review from an artist friendly reporter in LA, and from having worked shows with other bands.
You've got two headline acts performing full sets in a brand new venue. Neither one is used to being an opener. The show is heavily attended by media and entertainment people. The ladies are supposed to hit the stage at 8:15. The room is not full at 8:15 because it's a late arriving crowd, getting drinks, whatever LA crowds do instead of showing up and sitting down. They probably tried to wait as long as possible to hit the stage. Finally, at 8:45, they had to start or else the show would run into the wee early hours of the morning. The TV reporter, Sam Rubin, said Natalie seemed like something was bothering her at first, and that she made the comment about LA crowds spending $300 a ticket and still showing up a half hour late. I think they were nervous from not playing live in a long time, playing to a heavy industry crowd, and then not having things go as planned and scheduled. If you've been away from the routine of performing for awhile, that's a lot of distractions to have to work through.

I read different accounts, but the consensus was that around the time they started playing White Trash Wedding was when they finally started hitting their stride. I would love to hear their thoughts, but I'd bet (1) they probably didn't feel terrific about their performance, and (2) they had to turn the stage over to the Eagles crew, and that the combination of events and timing made them forego the encore.

I would predict that starting with Saturday's show, they will go back to kicking some serious musical ass. Start to finish, with encore. And sometime during the next week, we'll see them return to the stage at the very end of the show. A Desperado duet would be awesome.

Edinburgh1...I apologize.  We just saw your review of the show.  Thank you so much for the wealth of info.  We feel a lot less apprehensive about going to the show now...knowing what to expect. As crazy as it may sound, We are only going to the show to see The Dixie Chicks We've seen them a few times in concerts as well as watch them almost nightly on DVD -lol), so your review of the show helped greatly.  Unless I see any updated info from anyone or Junichi that they come back out at the end...no way am I sitting through the Eagles all the way until 12 Midnight.  (No disprespect to the Eagles).  We are just die hard Chicks Fans.  Obviously..if we would travel all the way from Ohio and pay near $300 a ticket just to see the Chicks - LOL.  Can't wait for their next concert tour as well.  We will definitely see them several times. :o)

Wow.  I am thinking maybe it's best I don't read this Guy's review ...as it will just make me fume and I'll tear into him I am sure. :o)  The only Thing I didn't like that I read in the LA Times review..was that they said the Chicks fled without an encore.  It doesn't seem like them to not encore.  Maybe there was just some tension or nerves the first night and it will change.  Also ..anyone know if the Chicks and Eagles performed at all together ?  Or do We not see them at all after their performance ?  No offense to the Eagles..as they are excellent artists, but my trip from Ohio all the way to L.A. and this show is all about the Chicks...and if after they perform first, they won't be back out on stage again...I may cut out of the show early to beat traffic and what not. :o)  Otherwise...if there is even an inkling of a chance that they will be back on stage...I will go nowhere until the very end.  :o)  Any updates of future show here will be helpful...as the show I am attending isn't until the Final show on Sat. 10/27.

LOL. I wrote Mr. Shuster an email this morning too.  So did other Chicks' fans. I didn't get a response though.  Darn. However, he knew he didn't have a response to the the argument that his review was biased and his "farm" remark had zero class. My only comfort is that I attended UCLA for undergrad, and until this morning, I'd never even heard of that paper. Check out CNBC which called the Chicks' fantastic, and Variety which stated that the Chicks' version of Not Ready to Make Nice blew everything the Eagles did subsequently out of the water.

the 11 year old who is going, is an up and coming singer. One of the songs she performs live is "I Hope", sung from a young person's perspective. I know this show is going to be something she remembers all her life, and I feel lucky to have gotten tickets and to be able to take her to see these special ladies.

First, if my email address appears, I apologize. It's an inside joke and is quite rude. Down to business.

I woke up early and wanted to scour the net for reviews, because I am going next week, and am anxious as can be. My first DC show, and I'm taking my friend and her 11 year old daughter, a new DC fan, and her first concert.
I found the review from the Daily News, a Valley wannabe newspaper, and the article written by a guy named Fred Shuster, who is obviously not a DC fan. After raving about the Eagles, he went on to say that their set was a whole lot of nothing, that they were 'self-absorbed' and that they had no class. He complained that they didn't talk about the new Nokia theatre, and that they should be returned to the farm as quickly as possible.

He includes his email address at the bottom of the review, and I took the opportunity to respond to him, saying that was a pretty harsh review for 3 women who swept the Grammys this year. I also told him a review is supposed to be about their musical performance, and not an opportunity to express his personal or political views. I ended by telling him that I would then wait for the LA Times to be able to read a real review.
    This is Fred's answer:

yeah, get it from the times. they'll agree with you.

What a bitter man this guy must be. I adore those 3 women, their music, and their incredible story, and this guy really started my day off poorly.

I'll be there next Wednesday, on time, and yelling louder than anybody. Buzz off, Fred.
